SMITH COUNTY (KYTX) - With the help of inmates from the Smith County Jail, fall planting for the East Texas Food Bank garden began Friday morning.
The crop will include collard, mustard and turnip greens. All food grown at the garden is distributed to needy families through the East Texas Food Bank.
The Smith County Sheriff's Office provides the inmate labor. Since the garden's inception in 2009, thousands of pounds of produce have been provided to hungry families.
