LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - This year's freshman class at LeTourneau University is over 25 percent larger that last year's. Faculty say this is great for the university and for the city.
Eighteen-year-old Hannah Barnett is a psychology major. She is excited to register for classes and move into her dorm room at LeTourneau University.
More than 400 students like Hannah participated in LeTourneau's official move in day Thursday morning. Faculty say they're thrilled to have so many new students.
Steve Condon with LeTourneau says private universities depend on student tuition. This jump in enrollment could mean more money for growth and expansion.
Not bad for a small private university in East Texas, and with students from across the country and the world attending LeTourneau, it means a boost to Longview's economy.
For students like Hannah, its an opportunity to be a part of something special.
Orientation will continue until Aug. 27. The first day of class is scheduled for Aug. 28.
