Emergency lockdown at Pine Tree High School

Temporary lockdown at Pine Tree HS after reported burglary

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - It was a normal Friday afternoon for students at Longview's Pine Tree High School until 1:00.

"Students they were scared and texting everybody."
Kiara Mccall is a sophomore at the high school.
She says for about an hour the entire campus went into an emergency lockdown.
Longview police say a neighbor saw a man committing a break-in. And while police don't believe he was armed, they let the school district know because every possible threat of danger should be taken seriously.
"Well, I was surprised because you just don't expect something like that to happen in your  neighborhood."
Krista Rayburn not only lives on  Briarwood Lane where the burglary took place, she's also a Pine Tree High School parent. She says the district did a good job of making sure parents knew what was happening.
"I had got a recording from the school just letting the parents know they had been on lock-down and that it was lifted."
But the nature of today's scare definitely puts Rayburn on edge.
"Where you are and what you're doing and are your doors locked and the safety of the kids."
Especially with the burglar still on the loose Friday evening.
"I'm sure that there's lots of people with their eyes open looking, so I think he'll be caught."
Pine Tree ISD says their first concern is always the safety of their students and staff.
  The district adds quote:
"We have a very defined emergency response plan for the district and campuses and we practice these procedures regularly...The work of the district and campus personnel in the areas of safety paid off today as everything went very smoothly."
