(KYTX) - It's that time again, to empty out your medicine cabinets of old or unused prescriptions.
Tyler Police, the Drug Enforcement Agency, and the UT Health Northeast are urging you to stop by several locations Saturday to drop off pill bottles.
This serves many purposes: a main one is keeping prescription drugs out of the hands of children.
Many become addicted, and even begin to sell them.
"Dispense of it without putting it down into the toilets and sinks and go into the water system as well as making sure it's going to a safe place and not getting into the wrong hands," says Don Martin with the Tyler Police Department.
This Saturday, you can drop your prescriptions off at the Walmart on Troup Highway, or at UT Health Northeast, at the corner of 271 and 155 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
