Carts, and carts, and more carts, all over flowing with toys for children in Marshall.
"I love kids first off, and I love Christmas. I feel like that's a special time, and it's a good time to take pressure off of other parents who maybe can't afford it." Empty Stockings Fund, Administrator - Lea McGee
Lea McGee, known as the Christmas lady by most, is the administrator of this east Texas, income based program that provides Christmas for hundreds of young boys and girls. She and the Empty Stocking Fund makes it their mission to put a present in every kid's hands on Christmas morning.
"I feel responsible for the kids, once I accept their application I feel responsible for them and I feel responsible to provide Christmas for them." Lea McGee, Administrator, Empty Stocking Fund
She will be providing a need, a want, and a wish for 350 as of now, and that number continues to climb.
McGee and her fleet of volunteers stormed the shopping aisles Thursday night with other Black Friday shoppers, in search of the best deals.
12 carts, 4,000 dollars, and over 3,000 toys later the women headed back to organize the gifts.
"Lea McGee says it takes hours to organize and separate the 3000+ toys, into categories of age and gender, and to give every child something to open on Christmas Day" -Kevin Boyce
"I can't stand it, it breaks my heart, the kids aren't in it by there choice" - Lea McGee
100 percent of the support given to the program goes directly to the kids --- and will goes directly to generating countless smiles come the 25th.
