(CBS) - Two East Texas country music singers are celebrating big wins this morning, after one of country music's biggest nights-- the Academy of Country Music Awards. Lindale native Miranda Lambert won her 5th straight Female Vocalist of the Year Award Sunday night. She took home 3 ACM's. She also won Single Record of the Year for "Mama's Broken Heart" and Vocal Event of the Year with Keith Urban. Mineola's Kacey Musgraves took home the award for Album of the Year for "Same Trailer Different Park." The night's biggest award-- Entertainer of the Year went to country music legend-- George Straight, who is in the middle of his Cowboy Rides Away Tour. Next year the Academy of Country Music Awards will be handed out at the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium.
(CNN) -Hollywood is mourning the loss of a true legend, Mickey Rooney. He passed away Sunday at his North Hollywood home, surrounded by family. Mickey Rooney grew up in showbusiness, a product of Hollywood's Golden Age. He made his acting debut before he was two, in his parents vaudeville act. He was nominated for four Academy Awards, including one for "the Black Stallion." In 1983, Rooney was given an honorary Oscar for his lifetime contribution to film. He was 93 years old.
(CBS) - Anne Hathaway is back on the big screen - in the animated sequel "Rio 2." Once again, she is the voice of "Jewel", who goes with her husband and kids on a journey to the Amazon. After reading the first draft of the script, Hathaway says she fought to make her character more real. "Rio 2" opens this Friday in theaters everywhere.
(CNN) - At the movies this weekend, "Captain America: the Winter Soldier" was the big winner. The second installment of the super hero series brought in $96M dollars. Russell Crowe's controversial biblical movie "Noah" came in at number two and the sci-fi action flick-- "Divergent" was number three.
