The Electrical Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) reports a new winter peak demand was set Thursday morning due to the cold weather.
According to its preliminary report, the region used 65,731 MW between 7 and 8 a.m. Thursday morning. This crushed the previous record of 62,855 MW set earlier this month.
ERCOT stated it had sufficient generation and transmission resources available to keep up with demand and continues to closely monitor operations to help ensure grid reliability.
