ETX Becomes Hollywood

JEFFERSON (KYTX) - Around East Texas ,-film crews are beginning to pop up for movie productions. Executive Producer David Ford is originally from Harleton, and chose to come back to East Texas to shoot this film. It's called "Something in the Woods" and is about an encounter with Bigfoot.

"Jefferson is an awesome town. And it's dying to have a movie shot in it."
Director of Northeast Texas Regional Film Commission Ron Holloman with the Northeast Texas Regional Film Commission says film crews like these use local resources.
"Finger nails, to buildings, to equipment, and antiques from local sops there is a wide range of levels that money turns over for this type of production. " - Ron Holloman, NTRC
"Ford says this movie is considered a small production, but the budget  is $200,000. All of it will be spent here in East Texas." - Kevin Boyce 
Another crew in Pittsburg is working on a web series called Dead Air. Director Jonathan Chauser says the cooperation with local government, and support of the community makes East Texas a prime  scene.

Bigfoot Wars, a movie shot in Mineola in 2013, was just released in May.
