ETX child murder suspect arrested by Mexican authorities

HARRISON CO. (KYTX) - An arrest has been made in a 2012 murder case that left a 2-year-old dead.

On December 9, 2013, Harrison County Sheriff's Office and Harrison County District Attorney's Office were notified by the U S Marshall's Office that an arrest of the alleged murder suspect 28-year-old Jose Luis Casiano-Aburto, had been made in Mexico on December 9.

Jose Casiano-Aburto was listed as the sole suspect in a murder case of February 15, 2012 involving the death of 2 year old Yeli Madalyn Jimenez. Her death was attributed to blunt force injuries allegedly received after Casiano-Aburto struck the child.

A warrant for his arrest was sworn after deputies had attempted to contact Casiano-Aburto for an interview the day after the child's death and discovered that he had fled to his native Mexico. After the warrant had been delivered to the U S Marshall's Office, negotiations for his arrest were made with the U S Border Patrol, Homeland Security, and Mexican Government Authorities.

He will be handed over to U S Marshall's Office Deputies and returned to Harrison County within a few days where he will be held pending trial. His original bond was $1,000,000.00, but that may change due his fleeing to Mexico.

Original Press Release from Harrison County Sheriff's Office:

The Harrison County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 2 year old child that occurred on Sunday morning at approximately 1:00 AM.

Yeli Madalyn Jimenez was brought to the emergency room of Good Shepherd Hospital in Marshall by her mother, Felipa Dominguez. The mother stated to emergency room staff that the child, who would have turned 3 years old on February 21, had fallen from a bed at her home on Liberty Church Rd in Marshall and when she went to check on her, found her unconscious on the floor.

Medical staff at GSM pronounced the child deceased after attempting to revive her. An autopsy was performed and the results indicated that the child had died from massive blunt trauma.

Investigators interviewed family members, as well as the mother, to determine that the boyfriend of the mother, Jose Luis Casiano-Aburto, a hispanic male, approximately 27 years old, had allegedly struck the child in the abdomen and had previously assaulted the mother.

As investigators began to search for the suspect to conduct an interview, it was discovered he had fled to Mexico on Monday afternoon and had gained entry. Within 24 hours of the child's death a probable cause affidavit was prepared and an arrest warrant for Capital Murder has been issued by the Harrison County District Attorney's Office.

The suspect is an illegal alien from Mexico and the US Marshalls, US Border Patrol Agents, Homeland Security and Mexican authorities have offered assistance to find the suspect and return him to the United States.
