TYLER (KYTX) -- Crews with the Texas Department of Transportation spent Monday evening clearing off bridges and slick spots on Interstate 20. They focused primarily on Smith and Van Zandt Counties. Traffic was slow going particularly for those who found themselves behind crews scraping off bridges. We're told I-20 was mostly clear east of Highway 69, but TxDOT still warned drivers to be careful and take it slowly.
DPS in Smith County tells CBS19 troopers worked about a dozen accidents between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. They were mostly from people sliding off the road with no major injuries.
Tyler Police Monday worked less than half a dozen accidents Monday night. Police warned drivers to be especially careful on the brick streets, hills, and areas with heavy road ice accumulation like stop sign and stop light lines.
