ETX home damaged after 60-foot tree falls during Wednesday night storms

Many East Texans are spending today cleaning up after yesterday's round of storms.

One family is trying to figure out how to get a 60-foot tree off the roof of their home.

It happened Wednesday night in a neighborhood near Chapel Hill.

The Whitaker family says moments after the storm rolled in, they heard a crash that sounded like a lightning strike.

Soon, insulation started falling from the ceiling.

When they looked outside, they found most of their front porch destroyed.

Luckily, no one inside the home was hurt.

The family has already called their insurance company.

We're told the same thing happened to a neighbor during a storm earlier this year.
