Family makes it out safely from house fire

SMITH COUNTY (KYTX) - A Chapel Hill family makes it out safely from a house fire that destroys their home.

Firefighters got the call for the fire around 12:30 Friday afternoon at County Road 288 and County Road 285. Initially firefighters tried to put out the flames from inside the home, but had to retreat outside because the fire was so hot and moving fast.

Investigators believe the fire started in the back of the home.

Whitehouse and Arp fire departments also helped fight the fire.

If you'd like to help the family affected by this fire, the East Texas Produce Market has set up a fund for them.

They are accepting all types of donations for the Eason family. There were several adults and children living in the home.

The store is located at 2117 East Front
