Fatal accident on I-30 near Texarkana shuts down traffic

Nash, Texas (KTBS) - Texas Department of Public Safety officials are working on cleaning up a wreck on the Interstate.

It happened around 1:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon on I-30 near the Nash, Texas exit just outside of Texarkana.

Authorities tell KTBS 3 News that the accident involved a 1 ton truck pulling a trailer and an 18-wheeler. The truck was traveling eastbound on Hampton Road when the driver reportedly lost control, struck the guardrail, entered the westbound lane of I-30 and was struck head on by an 18-wheeler.

The truck and 18-wheeler caught fire after the crash. Two people inside the car were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler was transported to a local hospital.

Both east and west bound lanes are shutdown as crews work to clean up the roadway.

Crash investigators are on the scene.
