Fatal wreck in Kilgore sends pregnant mother to hospital

KILGORE (KYTX) UPDATE - According to the Kilgore Police Department, On the 3600 block of U.S. 259 at 11:36 p.m. Saturday, a Beige 1997 Mercury crashed on the side of the road. The driver, 19-year-old Luis Fernando Ocura-Torres died on scene as he was driving his passenger, 17-year-old Carol Villanueva. Villenueva was 33 weeks pregnant at the time and was sent to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview. The E.R. performed an emergency C-Section and delivered a 5 pound baby boy. 

Villanueava is currently in ICU, and the baby is in the Nursery ICU. According to witnesses, the driver was driving really fast as he left the roadway. No skid marks on the scene lead Police to believe that the car went airborne as it flipped over, and fell into a creek. 

Alcohol is believed to be a factor. The mother and child remain in critical condition. 


KILGORE (KYTX) - The Kilgore Police Department responded to a one-vehicle wreck on U.S. 259 North. The wreck happened just after midnight on Sunday. 

The Police Department reports the driver has died. More as information comes available.
