Father hospitalized after allegedly stabbed by son over drugs

Wood County Sheriff's Department:

WOOD COUNTY (KYTX) - On Saturday, July 20, 2013 Wood County Deputies responded to a 911 assault call located inside the Brookhaven addition off FM 2869.

Upon arrival, deputies located a white man with injuries to the throat and chest area. The wounds appeared to have been inflicted by a knife.

EMS arrived on scene and transported the victim to a Tyler hospital. Also located at the scene was an individual that was identified as the victim's son. This person was also transported to the hospital due to an overdose of methamphetamine and cocaine.

Investigators were dispatched to the scene where a weapon was recovered as well as other evidence related to the crime scene.

The victim is expected to make a full recovery. The facts indicate that the father and son got into an argument over the ownership of methamphetamine and a fight ensued. Allegedly, the son then stabbed the father in the chest and cut his throat.

The case is still under investigation at this time. Investigators are still processing evidence and charges are expected to be filed upon completion of the investigation.
