Pine Tree High school student arrested, accused of making online threats

UPDATE: LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Classes at Longview's Pine Tree High School resumed today, after a student was arrested Monday for allegedly threatening violence at the school.

17-year-old Christopher Andrew Jones, a senior at the school..is charged with making a terroristic threat. He is out on a $10,000 bond.

Longview Police say FBI agents learned that Jones made the threats in an internet chat room.

He said he would lock the doors to the school cafeteria, and begin what he called the" greatest shooting ever".

Officers arrested Jones before he got to school yesterday.

Early Monday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) contacted Longview Police with information that the student made threats to against Pine Tree High School located in the 1000 Block of West Fairmont Street.

Longview Police, working together with the FBI, were able to locate the suspect who made the threats prior to the suspect arriving at the school.

The suspect was taken into custody for the Felony 3 offense of Terroristic Threat and was booked into the Gregg County Jail without further incident.

Threats made against public safety are taken very seriously. The Longview Police Department will respond as necessary to protect the citizens of the community.
