Fewer consumers, but more per capita spending this Valentine's Day

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Retail analysts predict a 10 percent decline among people shopping this Valentine's Day compared to 2013, but shoppers will spend more.

According to the National Retail Federation, spending per person this Valentine's day is going up, from $131 last year, to $134 Friday.

Longview florist Angela Hamill says it's her busiest work week of the year.

Despite more per capita spending, overall spending this Valentine's Day is likely to drop from more than 18 billion dollars in 2013, to $17.3 billion this year.
