Firefighters quickly contain blaze at Mineola home

MINEOLA (KYTX) - Firefighters were able to keep a blaze from spreading throughout a home in Mineola Sunday night, limiting the amount of damage to the structure.

Mineola Fire Department Public Information Officer, Steve Finley says the fire in the 100 block of Frances St. destroyed the kitchen and caused heavy smoke damage throughout the home.

A firefighter who was passing by the house notified authorities when he saw flames coming from the roof of the home. The 911 call came in at 5:45 p.m. Sunday and the fire was contained within 15 minutes.

Quitman, and Alba Fire Departments assisted Mineola in the call.

A neighbor that was on the scene was treated at a local hospital for possible smoke inhalation.

There were no occupants inside the house when the fire broke out.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
