Firefighters work to extinguish fire in Smith County

SMITH COUNTY (KYTX) - According to the Dixie Fire Department, the fire started on the back porch of the home near Tyler Pounds Regional Airport.

The Smith County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating what started that fire.

Assistant Chief Matt York says the living room and the kitchen sustained the most damage, and the bedrooms have smoke damage.

The call for the fire came in around 3:50 Sunday afternoon, Asst. Chief York says the fire was put out in 45 minutes with the help of Noonday and Lindale Fire Departments.

SMITH COUNTY (KYTX) - Firefighters from Noonday, Dixie and Lindale are working to put out a fire on County Road 1264 near Pineview Drive.

The fire started in a home in the 1400 block of County Road 1264 around 4 p.m.

Neighbors say the homeowners are out of town, and no one was inside the house when it caught fire.
