TYLER (KYTX) - The Metro Track and Field Club in Tyler issues a challenge to anyone whose ready to take their training to the track.
"We're giving them a chance to shine," says Coach Tutu Brown.
Coach Tutu Brown helps train dozens of runners. He's helping run the first Citywide Track and Field Fitness Challenge in Tyler this Saturday. Coach Tutu is following the lead of the Fit City challenge.
His vision is for gyms, fitness centers, personal trainers and corporate fitness groups to bring their athletes, whatever their level of fitness, to compete in a variety of races here at Robert E. Lee's track. There will be 40 meter and 100 meter dashes to a corporate 4 X 100 relay and mile races. "I would like to see us come together more," says Coach Tutu Brown. We can learn from each other. I'm in track and field, but there's so much more I can learn. Maybe they can help some of my athletes."
"I see myself going somewhere in track because I really consider it as fun because we work so hard, but we work for something," says Shawnae Muhammad.
Coach Tutu's athletes, who range from 4 years old to college age and beyond, are very disciplined in their training for this and other track meets throughout the year.
If you want to join them at the Citywide Track & Field Fitness challenge, it gets started at 1 PM this Saturday at Robert E. Lee's track.
