EAST TEXAS (KYTX) -- A Rusk mom is well on her way to her goal of losing more than 100 pounds. And she's finally found the perfect fitness routine.
Stephani Gibson used to cringe when she walked into a gym. For a lot of people it can be an intimidating experience, especially when you're not confident about your body.
Six months into joining a new gym in Rusk, you can't keep her away from a good workout.
Gibson works out at Beyond Fitness, in Rusk, daily. Sometimes three to four times a day.
"The classes are like 30 minutes here and hour there," she said. "It's not like it is back to back to back."
Classes like shadow boxing, abs and body sleigh keep her coming back for more. She's hooked on group fitness.
But in November of last year, Stephani was trying to take the weight off alone.
"You go up and down so if you don't have that constant encouragement it is really hard," she said.
At her heaviest she weighed 284 pounds. The turning point for Stephani is when she stepped on the scale and looked at the number she wasn't prepared for.
"I was in tears," she said. "There was no way I was ever that big it was just shocking."
Six months later Stephani's hard work in the gym is paying off.
"Pushing you to points you never thought you could get to."
She lost seven to eight dress sizes. That's more than 70 pounds.
"It's hard to even say how much better. When I look in the mirror, I see fitness, healthiness. My self esteem is way higher than it was the last two years. I wore big T-shirts...Just anything to cover myself up, now I can put on cute dresses and wear nice things and feel confident about myself."
And these intense workouts at the gym make keeping up with her toddler less of a workout.
Stephani also makes time for her meals and healthy snacks now to keep her metabolism in check.
