A soldier killed in the shooting spree at Fort Hood was be laid to rest in his hometown of Rolla Saturday.
The Rolla community and hundreds of soldiers came together to make sure Sergeant Timothy Owens' memory lives on.
They set out more than 2,300 American flags to line the streets during his funeral procession.
The people who live there say he deserved to be honored.
"It's very important for us to support the Owens family and our community," a bystander said. "His sacrifice in serving our county was an amazing thing and we're very sorry for his loss."
Sergeant Owens leaves behind a wife who was his high school sweetheart and three children.
