Foundation provides gift to historic Longview Depot, launches Memorial Brick Project

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - The Hubbard-Watlington Foundation will present a $25,000 gift for the establishment of a memorial plaza at the Historic Longview Depot. The presentation will take place at 9:00 a.m., Friday, August 30, at the Historic Longview Depot, 905 E. Pacific Ave.
According to Griff Hubbard, president of the Hubbard-Watlington Foundation, "We are honored to provide this gift to the depot, which is our regional hub for the 21st Century. There are many memories and stories to be shared about how this depot and the rail system have shaped our community and nation. This brick paver project will provide an opportunity for families to celebrate the memory of those who served in the military and rail industry."
The memorial plaza will include brick pavers in memory of those who have served in the military or as part of the rail system. Bricks are available for $150 each. The brick paver project will end December 31, 2013. Donations may be made to the PALS Foundation – Historic Depot and mailed to P.O. Box 1952, Longview, Texas, 75606. The PALS Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, so donations are tax deductible.
