(KYTX) - On top of plants and pipes, don't forget your pets during this cold snap.
Just like humans, pets need to be protected from the elements. Outside animals will need more food to help them stay warm.
Specialist say pet owners should make sure your pet has a well insolated shelter, with dry blankets or hay for them to snuggle in.
"Fur is not enough, especially if it's wet and it gets below freezing it can cause a lot of issues with them so keep them warm and keep them dry," says Tina Allbritton, a manager at Petland.
When it comes to putting sweaters on your pets, they aren't necessary, but if you have small pets and you keep your home cold, putting a sweater on them should be fine.
