Friday's Weather: Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 6 pm for most of East Texas, high

EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - Welcome to winter weather Friday!

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 6pm today for most of East Texas. A Winter Storm Warning from Sulphur Springs south to Canton and west to the metroplex until 6pm.  Travel is discouraged today. Expect temps to drop to 32 degrees by 9am, causing the rain to change over to a freezing rain mix that will last until 4pm.  

Roadways, bridges and overpasses will become hazardous with up to a quarter inch of ice accumulation along and north of I-20 especially I-30 and north. Cold and dry tonight with temperatures cratering to 23 by Saturday morning.  Another disturbance will bring the chance for freezing rain/sleet noon Saturday through noon Sunday. The precipitation will end by late afternoon Sunday.
