Fundraiser to help woman spread Christian beliefs in Romania

Tyler (KYTX) -- While many people go on vacation this summer, one young woman hopes to be in the slums of Europe.

She's part of Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and it's her personal mission to join a Christian ministry to impact lives there.

"God just really spoke to me and he was like I want you to do Youth With A Mission," Kyli Stark, a 4th grade teacher at Christian Heritage School, said.

Her Christian beliefs have taken Stark many places from Denver, CO to Madison, WI and now to Tyler. But there's another destination she wants to reach-- Romania.

"I'll be working with a ministry called Global Celebration and we'll be going to gypsy slums and feeding the poor there and just worshipping and dancing and loving on the people there," Stark said.

To earn her way, Stark is holding a fundraiser Saturday night called "Stronger Together" at YWAM's Dayspring Campus in Tyler. She says it will have different types of worship.

"We'll be having discussion and a prayer time where we can just bless one another," Stark said.

Stark needs $6,000 total to make the trip happen. She's already rounded up $1,000. "I'm really trusting God that he'll provide through this event," Stark said.

A fellow teacher says she'll proudly be in attendance for her friend.

"I want to support her and I want to support her vision. I think it's important what she's doing and what she believes in," Amy Smith, a Kindergarten teacher, said.

That event "Stronger Together" starts at 7 p.m. Saturday and will include food, fellowship, and music.
