From The City of Tyler:
TYLER (KYTX) - Friends of artist Joe French will have the opportunity to extend their good wishes to him on banners available at Saturday's (January 11,2014) opening reception for Gallery Main Street's Light/Dark exhibit, which is set for 5:30 to 8 p.m.
"We will have paper banners printed with images of Joe here at the gallery," said City of Tyler Main Street Department Leader Beverly Abell. "The public will be welcome to sign the banners, add personal messages and even include a drawing on the banner, which we know Joe will love," she added.
Joe French was injured in December during a robbery in Honduras, where he was teaching English to local students. He has now been transported to a hospital in Texas and continues his recovery, according to news reports.
"Joe is a great friend of the gallery," Abell said, "and we wanted to extend this opportunity for his friends to put their own personal touch to these get-well banners, which we hope will inspire Joe as he continues his recovery."
The reception is free and open to the public, so anyone wanting to sign the banner is welcome to come to the gallery during the event. Gallery Main Street is at 110 W. Erwin in downtown Tyler.
