TYLER (KYTX) - One 3-year-old from Tyler is putting her business sense to use to help other children more than 8,000 miles away.
It looks like your typical lemonade stand. Complete with lemons and cute little girls. Madelyn Billberry is three and a half years old. Instead of spending the lemonade stand money on toys and candy, she's using it to buy beds for children in south west Uganda.
"I was watching the video and some of them had beds that were sored," said little Madelyn.
Her mother, Kathryn Billberry said when she said sored, she really means full of holes.
"I almost started to cry when I was watching the video, cause I was really sad about it," said Madelyn.
She and her mom was watching a video from the Parental Care Ministries when she saw the beds. From that point on, Madelyn has been determined to help.
"For the last few months every quarter or dime or penny she's seen on the ground, she's picked it up," said Mrs. Billberry.
With the coins and lemonade stand she's been able to put a dent in the costs for new beds. So far she's raised $200. However to reach her goal of $750 to replace damaged beds, her parents are helping her out by putting on a garage sale.
"So, we decided we would try to help her," her mom said.
Most of the items that will be sold have been donated. Her parents are proud and are ready to help as much as they can.
