Girl, 4, allegedly killed by her mom is laid to rest

ATHENS (KYTX) - A four-year-old Athens girl Victoria Wyatt has been laid to rest, a little less than a week after her mother confessed to killing her.

CBS 19's Katiera Winfrey was there as loved ones said their last goodbyes.

A tiny casket fit for a toddler, covered with pink flowers of different shades sits at the front of the room.

"This is the worst thing I've ever been through in my life," said Victoria's grandfather Gary Wyatt Sr.

Pink was Victoria's favorite color. The flowers on her casket symbolizes one last tribute to the short life she lived.

Through tears Wyatt said, "I just want my baby back, i love her so much."

An invisible cloud of sadness, regret and anger fills this room as dozens mourn her death.

Wyatt said, " She was my baby. I was the mama. I had her when she was little I helped Gary Jr. through the whole thing because her mother wouldn't."

A little less than a week ago, Victoria's life was cut short, and one of the people thought to have loved her the most -- the child's mother Stacie Parsons--- confessed to the murder.

"I just want to make us all more cautious with our children and look for the terrible signs."

A motive for the death hasn't been released by police...but whatever the cause, it ended with Victoria becoming a victim..

Wyatt says since Victoria's death, the continuing support pouring in from family, neighbors and people all over, has made things a little easier.

"It's wonderful, Athens has been wonderful the police has been unbelievably wonderful."

Although the mourning process for this family is far from over there's some solace knowing Victoria's suffering is now over.

"I know she's with god and i know my parents were there for her."
