UPSHUR COUNTY (KYTX) - An Upshur County jury found John Anthony Adams, 51, of Gladewater guilty of two counts of indecency with a child Tuesday.
The maximum sentence for each count was given for 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The defendant will not become eligible for parole until he serves at least 10 years in prison, according to a press release.
On Nov. 17, 2011, Adams was acting as a babysitter for a child and her younger brother. Adams knew the child because she was related to him, the release said. At naptime, he reached under the girls pants and shirt and touched her multiple times.
The child later told her mother what had happened, and an investigation was launched.
Adams is also wanted in Kentucky for bigamy and felony failure to appear charges. These charges remain open.
