Good Shepherd: Hospital has not dispensed medications associated with meningitis

Released by Victoria Ashworth, Good Shepherd Marketing and Public Relations Director

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - As reported in national news stories (Monday) and today, there have been more than 105 confirmed cases of meningitis including eight deaths located in nine states which have been linked back to steroid injections that were contaminated with a potentially lethal fungus during manufacturing.

The tainted methylprednisolone acetate injections have been tracked back to a manufacturer in Massachusetts, New England Compounding Company (NECC), who recalled the injections on September 26.

Please be assured that Good Shepherd Longview, Marshall and Linden pharmacies have not purchased or dispensed any medications from NECC.
