LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Becker's Hospital Review recently announced its list of "100 Great Community Hospitals," which recognized Good Shepherd Medical Center as one of five Texas hospitals to make the list based on quality of care and service to the community. The "100 Great Community Hospitals" list recognizes high-performing hospitals that have fewer than 550 beds and smaller teaching programs.
To compile this list, the Becker's Hospital Review editorial team selected community hospitals based on rankings and awards from iVantage Health Analytics, Truven Health Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters), Healthgrades and The Joint Commission.
"We are honored to be included in this list for the second year in a row," Ken Cunningham, executive vice president and interim CEO, said. "This year, Good Shepherd has been ranked among the top hospitals not only in Texas but in the nation as well, and we are again honored to be recognized by a leading healthcare publication."
According to Becker's, community hospitals are a critical component to the American healthcare continuum. These hospitals are often the anchors of health and employment within their communities, providing patients with top-quality care close to home. The following hospitals have demonstrated commitments to the health of their local population through clinical excellence, community involvement and various other efforts.
