LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Gregg County commissioners say parking around the courthouse has been a chief complaint of taxpayers for years.
Today, commissioners said they will seek out a consulting firm to study the cost and feasibility of building a multi-level parking garage near the courthouse for employees and the public.
"So we don't have to spend 10 minutes looking for a parking space, or more," 24-year-old driver Jennifer Wilkes, of Longview, said this morning after parking two blocks away from the courthouse for jury duty this morning.
Commissioners have not said how much a parking solution could cost. It is a part of the county's five-year capital improvement plan -- and Gregg County has more than $24 million in reserves dedicated for capital projects.
