Hannah House Maternity Home offers help to pregnant women

GILMER/UPSHUR COUNTY (KYTX) -   Every morning 24-year-old Erica Ogujuba says she wakes up counting her blessings. Erica has suffered through an abusive relationship during her pregnancy.

"There was too much yelling, too much fighting and I'm pregnant, too much shoving on Erica, pushing on Erica and throwing things at Erica."
So Erica, called on the Hannah House for help. House mom, Marci Pierce says it's a phone call she'll never forget.
"She just came across as wounded, scared and upset at her situation."
Hannah House Maternity Home is a  nonprofit organization created to reach out to teens and young women in a crisis pregnancy situation, to provide an alternative to abortion such as adoption or parenting.
"We get them medical care, we offer  counseling and classes depending on their situation each girl is different."
Help pierce says she believes a lot of young women don't know exists.
"We don't force adoption on any of the girls, but we do want them to now that is an option."
An option Erica says she's not willing to take.
"Adoption, abortions are just not the options for me."
With a due date just 5 months away, Erica says she plans on preparing for life with twins and using the guidance she's received from her Hannah house family.
"It's good help for young women that don't have family support or help at all from friends."
In an attempt to raise a little more money the Hannah House says it's looking forward to its annual Bass and Babies tournament taking place this Saturday. They say it's a tournament that brings in thousands of dollars that helps with the homes rent, utilities, groceries and even some of the mothers doctors visits.
