Health Alert: Childhood ADHD may lead to more problems

(CBS) - Researchers have found about a third of children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADHD still have it as adults. The findings also show that more than half of children with ADHD are more likely to have psychiatric disorders as adults including substance abuse, anxiety and depression. ADHD affects about seven percent of all children and is three times more common in boys than girls.


(CBS) - A group of international researchers has found seven new areas on chromosomes associated with age-related macular degeneration. The eye disease is a leading cause of blindness. Researchers hope pinpointing specific genes will make it easier to determine what triggers the disease.


(CBS) - While two million Americans are allergic to insect stings, researchers found the majority of people allergic to fire ant stings don't get their monthly shots. The injections reduce the chances of a severe allergic reaction that can be deadly.
