Health Alert: Prostate Testing Saving Lives

(CBS) - If the "Prostate Specific Antigen" test went away, new research shows three times as many men would be fighting for their lives. Scientists at the University of Rochester compared data from the 1980's when there was no routine testing - to recent years of widespread testing. Their study suggests the PSA test may prevent approximately 17-thousand men each year from having advanced cancer at diagnosis. A government task force recently questioned the test - concluding it has little to no benefit along with painful side effects.

(CBS) - Child abuse experts say children who are psychologically abused can be just as traumatized as those who are physically abused. The study in the Journal Pediatrics finds psychological mistreatment is the most prevalent form of child abuse. Experts say neglecting, terrorizing or belittling a child can make them feel worthless and unloved.

Researchers followed more than 7 hundred children for 13 years and found those exposed to the highest magnetic fields before they were born were 69 percent more likely to be obese or overweight.
