Health Alert: New drug offers hope to asthma sufferers

(CBS) - Scientists are making progress on a new asthma drug that attacks the respiratory disease in two ways.

The drug reverses the narrowing of the airways and reduces inflammation quicker.

Researchers say long term studies are needed, but one doctor called the new drug one of the most substantial advances in asthma medicines in a long time.





(CBS) - A new study suggests paying people to donate a kidney may be the most cost effective way to help patients who need transplants.

Researchers at the University of Calgary say paying donors $10,000 for a kidney could increase transplants by 5 percent or more.   

(CBS) - Women who exercise during pregnancy may be helping their offspring.

A new study from U.S. and German researchers shows that when pregnant women exercise it improves the vascular function of their babies.
