(CBS) - A new study looks at the rising cases of dementia around the world and the burden it puts on caregivers. Researchers at King's College London predict the number of dependent older adults will triple to 277- million over the next 40 years. Half of them will have dementia. The report calls on governments around the world to make plans for providing long term care.

(CBS) - Doctors sometimes caution against weight loss for older adults because of concern about losing muscle and bone mass. But a new study at Wake Forest Baptist finds there are positive health benefits. Researchers say combining physical activity and weight loss can lower the risk of cardiovascular disease for the elderly and improve mobility.

(CBS) -  A new test will help doctors catch liver cancer while it's still in the earliest stages. Researchers at Georgia regents university helped develop a probe to be used on liver biopsies. It turns cancer cells a reddish color so doctors can identify abnormal tissue.
