HENDERSON (KYTX) - Rusk County investigators say more charges could be coming for a Henderson High school teacher accused of child porn possession.
A cyber crimes investigation led them to his Rusk County home.
Parents we spoke to say Henderson schools are small, it's a close-knit community, and it's no surprise that most students knew high school teacher James Brent Malone.
But they say what they're hearing is unacceptable for their kids to be around.
"I just heard when my daughter got home from school,"says Joy Walker.
Walker says her 16-year-old daughter didn't have any classes with 42-year-old James Brent Malone at Henderson High School, but she knew who he was.
"You wouldn't think teachers wouldn't do it because something they're supposed to teaching the kids," says Walker.
She says she's hearing about teachers accused of crimes far too often, and teachers should be held to a higher standard.
An arrest affidavit states Malone had more than three images that show a child under the age of 18 engaging in sexual conduct.
Sheriff Jeff Price says his deputies were called to Malone's home Thursday evening after Longview Police received permission to search him home.
They were working on a cyber crime's investigation.
"During the visit they got consent from Mr. Malone. Went in and looked around his home and discovered the evidence then arrested him," says Sheriff Price.
Parents say Henderson ISD sent home a letter stating a teacher was arrested, but not for anything to do with the school, and that he wasn't on campus as of now.
"Still going through all the evidence they found to determine whether or not all of it is child porn or not," says Sheriff Price.
Sheriff Price says there were more images investigators have to look at to determine if there could be any additional charges for Malone.
While parents, like Walker, hope more can be done to protect their children.
"You don't want any child exposed to that," says Walker.
Henderson ISD said today it couldn't make many comments on Malone's arrest, but did say he was placed on administrative leave for the "foreseeable future."
Malone is in the Rusk County Jail tonight.
A $10,000 bond has been set for his charge.
