Tyler (KYTX) -- A major retailer opening its new grocery store in Tyler is hiring nearly 100 people--and the search to fill those spots is already underway.
"We still have roughly 50 positions left and working with Workforce to get those last positions filled," David Price, Walmart Neighborhood Market Store Manager, said.
Price will spend Tuesday interviewing candidates.
"We're looking for overnight associates and daytime. We still have some management positions left," Price said.
He says the quick in-and-out concept has worked well for Walmart so far.
"Very popular in the Metroplex, I know there are several stores in Dallas," Price said.
The old Albertson's store--gutted and worked on for the past few months.
"It's a completely renovated building from top to bottom. Everything will be brand new, fresh paint," Price said.
And the creation of 95 jobs is a relief to our economy. "There are a lot of people who have been looking for jobs for a long time," Stephen Lynch, Area Manager for Workforce Solutions East Texas, said.
Ideal candidates stopping by the hiring event will have customer service skills.
"People who enjoy working with people, interacting with people," Lynch said.
Neighborhood Market is set to open April 4th. Managers say that's why they want all the hiring done now, so workers are trained and ready to hit the ground running when doors open.
The hiring event is tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Workforce Solutions in Tyler. When you arrive, be sure to tell them you are there specifically for Walmart positions.
There are dozens of jobs at other locations Walmart is interviewing for as well.
