House destroyed in large grass fire and explosion

WOOD CO. (KMOO) – A home near Golden was destroyed Wednesday afternoon when a grass fire burned nearly 12 acres.

Fire Departments from Wood, Rains and Van Zandt Counties responded to the grass fire, and numerous explosions reported near Golden.

According to the Alba Fire Department, roughly 12 acres were burned at a property on CR 1668 and FM 779.

A home on the property was destroyed. No one was hurt.

It's believed the explosions could have been the four wheelers kept on the property.

Alba, Mineola, Hainesville, Lands End, Yantis, Rains, Quitman, and Grand Saline Fire Department's responded to the fire. The cause of the blaze hasn't been determined.
