(KYTX) - An Ice Storm Warning goes into effect at midnight and continues through Friday afternoon along and northwest of a line from Tyler to Linden.
Light showers are falling across much of East Texas, but temperatures are not expected to drop to freezing until after sunset along the I-30 corridor and gradually fall to near freezing over the I-20 corridor overnight.
Icing of bridges, overpasses and other higher objects will begin in the north and northwest counties and work toward that Tyler to Linden line overnight and Friday morning.
Ice accumulations of one-half inch are possible along I-30, and there could be up to one-quarter inch along I-20 through Friday afternoon.
Rain will end by Friday evening, but a second wave of freezing rain Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning will cause more icing problems and could be worse than what we expect to see Friday. We will see sunshine early next week, but temperatures will be slow to warm up.
