Immigration is a Big Topic in Rusk's Town Hall Meeting

RUSK (KYTX) - More than 70 people showed up in the Cherokee County Courthouse to express their opinions to their representative in Washington.  People here were focused on one issue, immigration. Parent Jerry Hill says he wants the government to secure the border once and for all.

"At some point, these people have got to learn to fix their own countries. When they come here, they bring their problems with them. " Jerry Hill, Parent

Other people told House of Representative Member Jeb Hensarling the same thing.

"Shut the border, shut it down"

Congressman Hensarling agreed with the crowd in the Cherokee County courtroom.

"The bottom line is they broke our laws. And a nation without laws ceases to exist. Illegal immigration is a threat to our national security, financial security, and the rule of law and it has to be stopped." - Jeb Hensarling, Representative

Hensarling says he is proud of the bill that his house of representatives passed on Friday. The bill would allow sending immigrant children back home without hearings.

Hensarling adds that he wants physical walls on the border, and virtual walls that alert border patrol agents when someone crosses them.

"One of the most humane things we can do, is to convince others not to take the trip in the first place. The sooner we get this kids on C-130's going back home, the sooner this stops." - Hensarling
