FROM THE TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH:
Israeli music show set April 6 at Liberty Hall
BY REBECCA HOEFFNER
The Congregation Beth El Sisterhood will hold a concert, "A Night of Israel Music, featuring Rabbi Neal Katz and Friends" at 7:30 p.m. April 6 at Liberty Hall in Tyler.
"The program will feature some of Israel's great folk songs, including Jerusalem of Gold and the Israeli National Anthem, HaTikvah," according to the news release. "There will be Israeli items for sale and wonderful art by Israeli artist Ronnie Tabeka."
Katz expects a good turnout for the concert, based on previous experience he's had with community Hanukah and Klezmer concerts, he said.
"Tyler is a pro-Israel community," he said. "There's a lot of interest, and it's an opportunity for me to share the music I love. It's music about peace, the land of Israel and its history."
Although the topic of Israel can be a touchy political subject, Katz said the event isn't political.
Proceeds from the concert go to the Sisterhood's internal programs and to the local charities they serve.
