Jacksonville man wants to put an end to "sagging"

JACKSONVILLE (KYTX) - The sign in the front window of  Quick and Easy Appliance in Jacksonville clearly reads "no sagging."

At the bottom, it says, "we reserve the right to refuse service."

"I do find it offensive when they come in here showing their drawers, it shows disrespect to me, is what it does," said Dale Stoltz.

Store owner Dale Stoltz put the sign up after his longtime friend, Calvin Brown, came by with the sign.

It was Calvin's idea.

"We may not be able to stop it all, but we can control it until the situation is resolved completely." said Calvin Brown.

Calvin wants to see these signs displayed everywhere. He's the founder of a new outreach ministry called "Brothers on the Move."

"My message to the young people is to pull your pants up, put God first," said Brown.

So far, people in Jacksonville seem to be supporting his message.

"I'm more than happy to put that sign up there," said Stoltz.

Calvin's "no sagging" message is spreading across Jacksonville.

At CJ's Quickstop, Calvin's sign is posted, along with a message from the owner of the store that says "Attention: no shirt, no shoes, no service, and please pull up your pants!"

"If they come in and they don't adhere, they get asked to pull their pants up. If they do not, they get asked to leave," explained Roy Johnson, store owner.

Calvin wants to teach young men, people will not take them seriously,  if they won't pull up their pants.

"You walk into a place looking for a job, no one is going to hire you looking like that," added Brown.

A statement that is echoed by other people in the community who want to see "sagging" come to an end.

"It's how you represent yourself guys. It's what it's all about," said Stoltz.
