LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) We started with 12 contestants, but after losing two teammates and gaining a new one, we are the eleven left who are shedding pounds -- "I started at 450 pounds, and then Friday when I weighed, it was 423 pounds," contestant Joe Chase said -- and shedding tears.
Joe Chase and his wife, Cheryl, have shed a lot of tears the past week, but their commitment has inspired their teammates and trainers.
Joe is a preacher who knew he needed to lose weight two years ago, when he didn't think he'd get up from his chair to speak at a friend's funeral. So he and Cheryl are taking on the aches, cramps and diet plan.
Two people have left the competition so far, but not the Chases.
"I don't want to live like that anymore," Cheryl Chase said. "I just want to be normal."
CBS 19 Reporter Jimmy Isaac is waiting for his doctor to release him to take part in full active workouts, but trainer Loni Dubman sat down with him today. Together, they set a schedule for light one-on-one workouts this week. She's also given him a daily meal plan that is sensitive to his heart and respiratory issues.
He plans to continue meeting with the team and doing lighter workouts now through the April 15 deadline.
