(KYTX) - A jury duty scam similar to cases reported in Wood, Smith and Gregg counties has now been reported in Hunt County.
Sheriff deputies are now warning residents of the scam.
According KMOO, the sheriff's department says residents have received phone calls from someone identifying themselves as Hunt County sheriff's deputies.
In the phone call, the scammers tell the victims they have missed jury duty. Residents are told that they must pay a fee to avoid an arrest warrant.
Police say authorities will not contact residents by phone to request payment for missing jury duty.
