JUST IN: Former Grand Saline police chief posts apology letter on social media

GRAND SALINE - Justin Collins officially resigned as Grand Saline police chief at 8 a.m. Wednesday morning.

His resignation stems from an investigation into his actions as police chief that resulted in him being charged with two counts of misleading city on travel expenses as police chief.

Collins posted an open letter to the city Wednesday, explaining and admitting to the charges:

Collins was booked into the Van Zandt County Jail Tuesday afternoon, but has since posted a $1,000 bond.

He was placed on administrative leave in July after allegations surfaced against him.

Collins was the Grand Saline police chief for three years.
