Kaufman Co. K9 team finds drugs during routine traffic stop

Kaufman County Sheriffs Office:

Kemp (KYTX) - On October 25, 2012 at approximately 9:38 p.m. during a routine traffic stop, a Kaufman County K-9 team stopped a Green Chevrolet Camero for speeding on the East bound service road at State Highway 274. During the traffic stop the deputy asked for permission to search the vehicle and the suspect refused consent.

The K-9 deputy then deployed his K-9 partner Nurmo for an open air sniff around the vehicle. Nurmo alerted on the passenger door. As the deputy searched the vehicle he found a small amount of marijuana in the suspect's purse as well as a quantity of white crystal substance believed to be methamphetamines, in a zip lock bag with several white tablets, a small spoon and several empty bags which are commonly used to package contraband for distribution.

Arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 3 less than 28 Grams, Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group One over 1 Gram but Under 4 Grams, Possession of Marijuana Under 2 ounces was Sandra Michelle Wilson, 54, of Tool Texas. Wilson also had an outstanding warrant from Garland Police Department.

The suspect was transported to the Kaufman County Law Enforcement Center where she remains with bond set at $65,429.00.
