Kaufman County's inclusion in NET-RMA could lead to I-20 improvements

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - East Texas transportation leaders say Kaufman County is the final piece they need -- to push for expansions on Interstate 20.

Member counties of the Northeast Texas Regional Mobility Authority are voting whether to allow Kaufman County-- into the agency.

Since its inception in 2004 -- NET-RMA has sought funding for renovations to I-20. That includes a third lane of traffic in each direction -- and improved access ramps from Dallas-- to the Louisiana state line.

Upshur county commissioners will make a decision on adding Huffman county-- Monday.
